Guana Tyrone Sims was the seventh child born to the late Roosevelt Tyler & Mary Sims on August 11, 1971 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. He departed this life on Monday May 5th, 2008 (Cinco de Mayo). He was baptized Roman Catholic at St. Francis de Sales Church. He was educated in the Philadelphia Parochial & Public Schools and graduated June 1989. He was faithful to God and realized his purpose and potentials. He worked tirelessly to achieve his goals for his family and children. He had a fond love for basketball, which earned him many trophies & awards. He was a versatile skilled worker which included jobs such as barbering, carpeting, painting & maintenance work. "Gee" as he was affectionately called by friends, loved to help young youth. He organized & managed a neighborhood group which allowed the youths to pursue their many talents & dreams. Guana loved life & people. He was caring and affectionate. Guana was the kind of man that would "give the shirt off his back" to anyone. He was well known by his charm, character, good looks, wit great sense of humor & smile. To know him was to love him. Guana's many employment achievements were working for the Philadelphia Water Department. He worked at a Metal liquid plant and Maclane Trucking Co. as a forklift driver. At the time of his death he was in the process of training as a bus driver for the Philadelphia School Bus Service. Guana was a magnet, everyone was drawn to him. He greeted everyone with a handshake, hug or smirk. He loved life & his family very much. He will be terribly missed by everyone that knew him. Guana leaves behind: 2 children, Ghana Shamir & Reauna Sabri; 4 stepchildren: Dietrique, Erryn, Alaine & Chad; 6 Brothers: David, Daniel, Anthony (sister-in-law Jane), Kenneth (sister-in-law Loreen), Kenya (sister-in-law Karen) & Claude; 2 Sisters: Teresa and Karen; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
